The fonder of Primal Urge, Ron Rotatori, is known as a political advocate for proper body piercing regulations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Ron feels obligated to inform the public of the realities of body piercing to insure the consumer has the information they need to protect their health and safety. Ron believes that body piercing should be fun, exciting and fashionable but most of all body piercing must be truly safe and clean.

In New Jersey the consumer is being mislead, the State Health Department, is issuing certifications to the body piercing shops. The certificates state that the shop has passed an inspection and certifies that the Piercer is a Professional.

Assemblyman Herb Conaway from New Jersey states “Presently, tattooing and body piercing are largely unregulated practices, except for requiring sterilization of equipment” he goes on to say that “We need to ensure safe standards for invasive procedures that can be potentially harmful," "Individuals who wish to get a piercing should know that the artist they are paying meets the highest possible standards.” The reality is if the Piercer has a clean looking room and sterilization equipment they will be licensed by the State health Department. NOTE: There are no requirements to have a proper level of knowledge, expertise as a Professional Body Piercer and are not required to have the training in the proper use of the sterilization and sterilization equipment. In Grater Philadelphia, the problems are far worst as there are no mandated regulations, but voluntary regulations based on the regulations established for New Jersey.
