The Hiway Theatre has been an important cultural landmark for the Jenkintown area since it opened in 1913. The theatre now operates as a member supported, community theatre with the mission to foster community through offering a unique cinematic experience that enlivens the human spirit, fosters dialogue and promotes learning in an unparalleled environment.
The theatre has undergone a renovation, which blends new interior finishes with some original fixtures to achieve the look and feel of a retro movie house, complete with new seating for the auditorium, new projection and sound equipment and an expansion of the lobby. As a movie house that can trace its history to the silent era, the Hiway is unique as it is one of the few one-screen theatres that primarily carries first run films in addition to providing special programming and monthly film discussions. Our Hiway is so special, we can't imagine movies without it, or our community for that matter. It ROCKS. we support it 100%, year in and year out. You should want to, as well!

I like that they still have the old orchestra pit in the front of the theater & the work they did to fix up the place went a long way!

Great selections of movies at reasonable prices. Good popcorn and personal service. Membership supports the community theatre and is a true bargain.

it's an OASIS in the middle of a wasteland of film garbage in huge multiplexes that smell of popcorn and show violent or just plain bad movies.
