Paul is the owner. He says: In 1936, my grandfather arrived in America from Germany. Upon his arrival, he opened a bakery, ? Bartholomae's Bakery?. The bakery was located in Croydon, Pennsylvania. My grandfather enlisted the help of his family, my Father Fritz and my Uncle Bill, to help around the bakery. Fritz and my Uncle Bill grew up learning the intricacies of an old-fashioned bakery. After my grandfather passed away, my Uncle Bill continued working in the bakery and eventually owned ?Kay?s Bakery? in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Through the years, my father occasionally worked for Bill. After working with Bill, my father decided he wanted to bring an old-fashioned bakery back to Croydon. On November 7, 1974 Fritz and my mother Jean opened ?Fritz?s Bakery? on State Road in Croydon. My parents baked everything fresh daily, using only the highest quality ingredients. Combined, these two practices created an instant success! I began working with my Father and Uncle when I was 14 years old. My responsibilities included prep work, baking, and clean up. Basically, I did everything the adults didn?t want to do. ?I was their apprentice.? In 1993, I took over the family business. I wanted to carry forward the family business with the same core values instilled upon me by my Father and Uncle. I also kept the delicious recipes handed down from generation to generation. Our philosophy has always been to serve our customers baked goods that proudly represent our family name. Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you!
