Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion is Philadelphia's only authentically restored Victorian house museum and garden. The Mansion represents life in the rising middle class during the mid to late 19th century. The downstairs is decorated to the 1860s during the Civil War while the upstairs represents life in Philadelphia after the Centennial Celebration in 1876. Visit the Mansion on Thursday, Friday or Saturday afternoons for a docent led tour of the museum. The Mansion is also open on the first Friday evenings of most months for Upstairs Downstairs; step back in time to discover the challenges and enjoyments of Victorian women across all socio-economic levels. Reservations are required for Upstairs Downstairs.
