Although this diner is located inside the Reading Terminal Market, it nonetheless bears the trappings of a genuine diner, including plenty of chrome trim and waitresses who might address you as "hon." Customers line up at breakfast and lunch to chow down on dishes such as meat loaf, smashed potatoes with the skins attached, large portions of scrapple plus grits and gravy--an homage to McDavid's southern heritage.

Fluffy biscuits, crispy scrapple and smiling faces are what you'll get at the Down Home Diner. They have a great breakfast menu so make sure your travels take you to Center City for that all important first meal of the day. Take the plunge and try their excellent chipped beef or their yummy egg dishes. And when you're done, you can walk off those pancakes in FOODIE HEAVEN,...the Reading Terminal Market opens at 8!
